The Turner-Smith-Manning House

The Wellons-Brackman-Gronewald House, c. 1946

220 McCord

This charming, World War II era bungalow was built in 1946. It is located in the Oakmont subdivision, which was plotted in 1935 from land that was originally part of the Oakmont estate, home of former Governor, Charles McDonald Brown (1908-10; 1912). The original owner of this land lot was the Boatner family. The Wellons family, who built the house, purchased it in 1945. In 1951, it was sold to the Landers family, who then sold it in 1959 to the Methodist Foundation for Retired Ministers for the North Georgia Conference and was occupied by Rev. W. L. Brackman. The Brackman’s purchased the home in 1977 and lived there until 2004, when the current owners, Anne & Jack Gronewald bought it. The Gronewalds have remodeled the house and added a master bedroom suite and deck.
